However many times you've packed for a caravan trip, there's always one thing that gets left in the hallway. We've put together a full, category-by-category checklist covering the easy-to-forget items as well as the obvious ones.

Driving licence and towing documents
Caravan insurance certificate
Breakdown cover details
Park booking confirmation
Cash and cards for site fees and laundry

Kitchen

Gas bottle(s), plus a spare if towing your own caravan
Basic cookware and a kettle
Tea towels, washing-up liquid and a sponge
Bin bags
Food essentials for the first night

Bedding & Sleeping

Sleeping bags or bedding
Pillows
Extra blankets for cold nights

Bathroom

Toiletries and towels
Toilet roll
Travel-size shower gel and shampoo

Outdoor & Awning

Windbreak and groundsheet
Camping chairs and table
Torch or head torch, spare batteries

Safety & Tools

Carbon monoxide alarm, if not already fitted
Fire extinguisher or fire blanket
Basic tool kit and spare fuses
Wheel chocks and levelling blocks

Entertainment & Kids

Books, games and cards
