Booking Essentials

A modern UK caravan holiday is far more than just a roof over your head. Your accommodation will typically include a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob and microwave, a comfortable lounge with TV, bedrooms with made-up beds, and a bathroom with shower.

At our partner parks — Shorefield Holidays and Away Resorts — your stay also includes access to on-site facilities such as heated swimming pools, entertainment programmes, children's play areas, restaurants and bars.

Luxury lodges may also include private hot tubs, decking, king-size beds and Smart TVs. Always check what's included when booking, as facilities vary by grade.

Families

Absolutely — in fact, a caravan holiday is one of the best holiday formats for families. Parks are designed with children in mind, offering kids' clubs, adventure playgrounds, swimming pools, and entertainment every evening.

The self-contained nature of a caravan means you're never restricted by restaurant times or hotel rules. Cook when you like, go to bed when you like, and there's plenty of outdoor space for children to roam safely.

Parks like Away Resorts and Shorefield Holidays are particularly celebrated for their family-friendly environments, with dedicated activities for all ages throughout the season.

Pet Friendly

Yes — and this is one of the great joys of a caravan holiday. Both Away Resorts and Shorefield Holidays are fully pet-friendly across all their parks. Your dog is as welcome as the rest of the family.

You'll find dedicated dog-walking areas, nearby beaches and countryside walks, and pet-friendly accommodation options. A small pet supplement may apply at some parks, so it's worth confirming at the time of booking.

Accommodation

A static caravan is the classic option — spacious, well-equipped, and great value. Modern static caravans are warm, comfortable and fully furnished; a world away from the outdated image many people have.

A holiday lodge is a step up in size and luxury. Lodges tend to have higher ceilings, premium finishes, larger living spaces, private decking, and often a hot tub. They feel much closer to a high-end self-catering property.

Exclusive homes sit at the very top of the range — bespoke furnishings and a level of comfort that genuinely surprises first-time visitors. If you want to treat yourself, these are worth every penny.

Planning

Start with location — are you drawn to a beach, a forest, or a national park? Most guests find a park within one to two hours of home works best, making weekend breaks easy and spontaneous.

Next consider facilities. Young children? Look for entertainment programmes and pools. Seeking peace? A quieter touring or lodge park may suit better. Love activities? Look for watersports, cycling or spa facilities on site.

Our Shorefield Holidays page covers Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. For a broader range across England, explore our Away Resorts page or browse by county on our homepage.

Arrival & Departure

As a general guide, standard caravans are available from 3pm on arrival day. Luxury lodges may allow an earlier check-in from 2pm. Check-out is typically by 10am on your departure day.

Late check-out may be available subject to availability — always worth asking at reception on arrival. If you're arriving late, most parks have an out-of-hours procedure so you'll never be left stranded.

Value

Exceptionally so. A caravan holiday removes many of the biggest costs — flights, transfers, eating out every meal, and paid entertainment — replacing them with a single booking. Your accommodation includes a full kitchen, so meals are entirely on your terms.

When you factor in the on-site entertainment, swimming pools and activities that are included, a family of four can enjoy a full week's holiday for a fraction of a comparable European package. Breaks with our partners start from £199.

Ownership

Yes — and for many owners it's one of the best lifestyle decisions they've made. Owning a static caravan gives you a personal retreat that's always there, decorated to your taste and stocked how you like it.

It's important to note that most holiday parks are licensed for holiday use only, not permanent residency, so you'll need a primary home elsewhere. Annual site fees cover your pitch and communal facilities. Visit our Caravan Sales page to explore ownership options.

Weather

A well-chosen holiday park makes poor weather entirely manageable. Indoor heated pools, entertainment venues, restaurants, games rooms and kids' clubs mean there's always something to do, rain or shine.

Modern caravans are well-insulated and centrally heated, so a rainy day inside can be genuinely cosy. Parks do not typically offer weather refunds, so we'd always recommend taking out holiday insurance that covers cancellation and curtailment.

How to Book

We work as an affiliate partner with Shorefield Holidays and Away Resorts, meaning we connect you to the best available holidays and you book directly with the park at the best available rate.

Browse our Shorefield Holidays page for Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, or our Away Resorts page for 26 parks across England and beyond. Most breaks can be secured with just a 10% deposit. For personal guidance, get in touch via our Contact Us page.
