Great Yarmouth is one of England's original seaside resorts — a long sandy beach, an old-fashioned pleasure beach and amusements, and the Venetian Waterways gardens along the front. It's a big, long-established holiday town with everything geared towards a traditional caravan break.
Just south, the Suffolk coast turns quieter and more upmarket — Southwold, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness are known for beach huts, independent shops and a slower pace, a useful contrast if you want a day away from the arcades.
