Ayrshire, on Scotland’s south-west coast, offers a mix of beaches, golf (it’s the home of Turnberry and several other well-known courses) and easy access from Glasgow, making it a popular choice for a static caravan purchase.

Coastal towns to know

Ayr, Troon and Largs are among the best-known coastal towns in the area, each with a different character — Ayr for its beach and town centre, Troon and Largs for a quieter, more traditional seaside feel.

Access from Glasgow

Ayrshire’s proximity to Glasgow (many towns are under an hour’s drive) makes it realistic for regular weekend use rather than only longer holidays, which is a big part of its appeal for local buyers.

What to check

As with any static caravan purchase, confirm current site fees, the park’s season length (Scottish parks can have shorter opening seasons than further south), and whether the price includes decking and skirting.
